About Mental Illness
Like most people, individuals with
serious and persistent mental illness want to lead lives of quality and
purpose. But many face overwhelming odds in adjusting to community
life.
People who cope with mental
illness such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or major depression face
many challenges. These can include poverty and social isolation.
Guild Incorporated helps people
overcome those odds and pursue their dreams.
Mental illness can affect people of
any age, race, religion or income. Mental illness is not the
result of personal weakness, lack of character or poor upbringing.
Mental illness can profoundly
disrupt a person's thinking, feeling, moods, ability to relate to others
and the capacity for coping with the demands of life.
Use your unique talents and
interests to play a vital role in helping people overcome isolation,
build meaningful relationships and fulfill their goals and dreams.
